This charming and highly collectible early Staffordshire figure, dating from the 18th century, depicts a cow and her calf in a beautifully primitive style that reflects the rural artistry of the period. Handcrafted with distinctive naivety, the figure captures the simplicity and charm of early English pottery, making it a wonderful example of Staffordshire's early craftsmanship.
Despite its age, the piece remains in very good condition. There is some minor paint loss, as expected for a figure of this age, and a small nibble to the flower, as shown in the photographs. Additionally, some original manufacturing cracks are visible underneath, which are typical of early Staffordshire pottery and do not detract from its overall appeal.
With its age-appropriate wear and rustic beauty, this figure is a lovely addition to any Staffordshire or early English pottery collection.
